Greetings Bass Talk loyalists!
I'd like to thank all of you who have sent your photos in to be posted here on the Bass Talk Photo Wall. I've been slacking in the posting department (well, I AM a bass player!) but I'm trying to catch up. If you sent me a photo in the last year I'll probably have it posted eventually. Remember the Bass player creedo - Why put off 'til tomorrow what you can put off indefinitely.

  You guys rock!

My entire rig was stolen from a trailer sometime during 1991 from the greater San Antonio, TX area. Being 21 at the time, I saw no need for insurance as I knew NOTHING could ever happen. I lost a USA made Spector NS-2 which was my pride and joy, a Korean made Spector NS-2A and a Jackson Concert bass, a 1972 Ampeg SVT head, (2) 4x10 cabs, an ART Nightbass processor, Nady 2-channel wireless system and all the little cables and sundries associated with bass playing. After that, I was so distraught I never seriously picked up a bass for a long time.
After starting a family and with my daughter's growing interest in music(the violin to be exact), the music bug bit again. Being a father of two, it was no easy feat saving up money for a new bass but I was determined. Although I couldn't afford a new American made NS-2, I set my sights on and after 15 years, I finally bought a Spector Euro 4LX. It's identical to the USA made models, but the quality is just shy of the best Spectors and they're made in the Czech Republic. This is my new baby!
I hope you're still accepting pictures in the sacred halls of Bass Talk and I hope you'll let my mug grace the pages of bobandtom.com! Thanks!

Hey Bob n' Tom! Love starting my day with you guys! Here's me 'bringing the rawk' with my band 'Circle of Fifths,' this past November. I own a 1983 Fender Squire P Bass, but the bass I'm playing in the picture is my 'starter,' and my baby! It's a 2001 Warwick Corvette, 5 string. I use DR Low Rider stings, NO PICK, and run it through an SWR Workingman 4004 and two SWR Goliath 4x10's. I 'color' my sound by using a POD effects rig! Keep on Rockin'!\

Hey Bob and Tom, you guys rock! Here's a photo of me and two of my basses.  On the left is my Fender P-Bass Lyte, and on the right is my Fender American Deluxe Series Jazz Bass FMT, both have active electronics. I play them regularly with my church choir.  I'd like to give a call out to Sound Source Music VIP's for all the gear.  I love the Basstalk site!

Hi, my name is Barbra Blue. This photo was taken Aug. 9 in Joseph, Oregon. I have been playing for over 20 years and right now I am Rocking the Blues with a gal named Nicole Fournier. I just discovered your website. Pretty Coooool!!!

This is my 1978 Fender Precision bass affectionately known as "Big Bertha". She's heavy as hell, but what a great bumpin' bass!   Mark is holding his custom made 5-string.
Mark uses GHS strings exclusively!

Hey guys!!!
The show rocks -- the site rocks. It's the bottom line for the bottom line. I'm Ben Schneider, and I play bass in Digby, an original rock band from Louisville, KY. I love hollow basses, and this is me with my Epiphone Viola -- sort of the working man's Hofner. The other is a cartoon of me with my recently purchased 1962 Hofner reissue. (You don't have to use that one, I just thought it was funny, and I don't have a shot of me playing the real Hofner yet!) Thanks- Ben

Hey Guys!
This is me on my wedding day pulling out a killer solo just minutes after taking my vows. Gotta love that Fender Jazz Bass!! Always remember, tongues are for lickin' and fingers are for pickin'

Hey guy's, got a question for you. My name is Chris Benavente and I own Benavente Guitars, an up and coming high end guitar and bass manufacturing shop in Southern Oregon. I started out playing guitar, then got in to building them and then ended up playing bass by default (I had some of my creations in stock, and bass players are hard to find in our area). My question is, Am I less intelligent than the average bass player because I chose to play bass after playing guitar, or, am I more intelligent than the average bass player because I am capable of building the very basses I play?????

Thanks for all the laughs in the morning. It's the only thing that get the shop running for the day....Here is a link to my website and pic of the newest bass I built for myself. It's hard to see, but the dots on the fingerboard are amber LED's.

Keep Bass Talk alive,
Chris Benavente

PS. Tubas should "NOT" be considered bass. It's a frikin' horn for God's sakes. Bass is bass, strings and wood, don't toy with the concept please.....

How can you guys even have a Bass Talk without talking to the only band in the world that at times will use all three of their members on the bass?  Of course I'm talking about the legendary Spinal Tap.  I was fortunate enough to have great seats to the show in San Diego last year and have this fine shot of all three members playing bass on the "Big Bottoms" finale.  Please try and have the members of Spinal Tap on an upcoming show.  And please post the ultimate bass talk photo on the web!!!!
Thanks,
Mark

To Whom it may concern.
I am glad there is €nally a place I can turn when my own expertise is not enough to solve what will seem to you to be an easily solved situation. I was strolling through my neighborhood museum last week (as I do each Tuesday and every other Friday), and I noticed an auction which was to take place a few days later. Well to my delight, I noticed on the auction block were multiple pottery pieces I would absolutely love to add to my already substantial collection. I ventured to the auction just in time to see my favorite Meng up for sale (its pattern presents scantily clad geisha girls prancing about a posy €eld) but I am afraid I may have been to eager to buy and spent way too much. Without even considering my actions, I raised my hand (as was customary at this particular event) and offered up $200,000 as my initial bid. Needless to say no one else bid on my prize, nor was there anyone else in the room at the time other than the auctioneer and myself, but my troubles began when I took it home and placed it among the rest of my collection. When deciding how I wanted to display it, I couldn't decide whether to leave it empty, go with sand, or maybe even glass marbles to stabilize it from falling off the shelf. Will any of these take away from it's value? How did the Chinese do it? With as old as this thing is, they must have been doing something right. Thanks in advance,

Having the luxury of working for a music store for the last six years, I have been able to try (usually free) many sets of strings. Being a "Metalhead" (one who prefers Black Sabbath over Backstreet Boys) I have
found stainless steel strings to be the composite of choice. Going for more of a banging the low piano notes with a spoon sound is where I am at. Stainless Steel combined with my 1974 Mapleglow Richenbacker 4001, or
G&L L2000, have caused many ears to bleed. I was an avid DRstrings user for years until lately when Dale Titus of Warwick turned me on to their Red Label Warwick brand. The ocassional dead E-string is a small price to pay for the growl I get with them. They are much cheaper than DR's and Dale is simply a cool dude. Anyway, that's my two cents, and thanks for the exposure for us bass players. God knows their is not enough of us unsung hereos.

I listen to Bob & Tom at work, and when Bass Talk comes on I put down my tools and listen religiously. We bass players have nothing else like this. Keep it coming... Raz
